Summer shows, private events and new music
Hey everyone – this is Dave. I’m writing this on a post-show high after Scott, Rob and I ventured to the Hollywood Bowl to see The Cure last night. It was an amazing 3-hour show that covered a ton of ground and reminded us of just how music we love their music, and the music that we get to play. We even discussed adding more from The Cure into our setlist, ranging from “Just Like Heaven” to “”Shake Dog Shake.” I’m sure there will be some debate about those 2 songs and direction:)
Anyway – summer is upon us, and with that we’re juggling schedules: the band’s, each of our own individual and family schedules, and the limited time of summer. Here’s how our summer is panning out: We’ve got 2 open-to-the-public shows coming up – one each in June and July – and then 2 private shows in August. Here’s what that looks like:
June 19th: We’re playing at Waterfront Park at the harbor in downtown San Diego for their summer kick-off / Father’s Day event. The event goes from 12-4, and we’ll be playing from 12:30 – 1:15. This is going to be a great family event, so bring everyone! We understand that there will be inflatables, zip lines, food trucks, games, and a beer garden for the grown ups. So come on down to Waterfront Park, hear some music and then stay for the rest of the festivities.
July 2nd: We’ll be back at The Rook Bar in La Mesa to have a pre-emptive 4th of July celebration with our favorite Irishman, Mike, who happens to be The Rook’s Saturday night bartender. We’ll be breaking in a few more new tunes as well. If you haven’t seen us in a while, we’ve added a bunch of new material, including songs from The Cure (a 2nd song from them), Beastie Boys, The Vapors, The (English) Beat, Tommy Tutone, and more. And we’ll be breaking in a few more on July 2nd.

August, aka Private Party Month
We’ve got two private events in August on back-to-back weekends, and those are consuming the majority of our time for the month. One is Rob and Scott’s 30 year high school class reunion, so we’re going to make sure we’re on the top of our game for that one and show everyone there a good time.
The other is a combined birthday party for a couple that we’ve gotten to know a bit through their coming to our shows. It’s an honor to be asked to be part of a special celebration like this, and we’re thrilled to be able to bring some live music to the happy couple.
If you’ve got a special occasion, a professional event or some other sort of gathering that makes you think, “it’d be great to have live music for that thing,” let us know! Just send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know about it.
We’re going to start booking dates for the fall. If you have any suggestions of places to play, let us know. We’re grateful to have found places that have supported us in getting out to play for people, and we’re always happy to explore new places and bring the music.
Thanks as always to everyone who comes out to see us play and joins in on the fun. We know how much fun we have, and at our last gig at The Rook we met a new friend who told us that seeing live music from an era shw loves made her night and even her week. Thanks too to those who book us and give us a place to play and build up some much-needed exposure for classic alternative music. So get these dates on your calendars and come hang out with us!
